What can you do with Salesforce and Viral Loops?

  1. 1

Give every new lead a referral link

New leads join your program as they are created, with no CSV import, so every lead can start referring.

  2. 2

    Do the same for contacts

Repeat the rule for the Contact object, and new contacts join too. Add ReferralCode__c if one Salesforce account feeds several campaigns.

  3. 3

Count a referral when the deal is won

A rule on Opportunity sends deals as they are won. The contact is marked converted, with the deal's Amount as the value.

How do you connect Salesforce?

Full setup guide
  1. 1

    Connect Salesforce

In your campaign's Integrations step, choose Salesforce and connect it. Viral Loops tries to create the workflow rule for you.

  2. 2

    Add the rule if needed

If it is not there, go to Setup, Workflow Rules, New Rule. Pick Lead, evaluate when Created, with Email not equal to null.

  3. 3

    Add the Outbound Message

Add an Outbound Message to your campaign's participation endpoint with at least Email, FirstName and LastName. Activate it, then repeat for Contact.

  4. 4

    Track won deals

In a Conversion campaign, add a rule on Opportunity where Won equals True, with an Outbound Message to the conversion endpoint.

FAQ

Salesforce FAQ

Which Salesforce editions work?

Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance and Developer. The integration uses Outbound Messages, which other editions don't have.

Do I still need to import a CSV?

No. New leads and contacts with an email join your program as they are created.

How are won deals counted?

A rule on Opportunity sends deals marked Won to Viral Loops. The contact is marked converted, with the deal's Amount as the value. This works in Conversion campaigns.

Can one Salesforce account feed several campaigns?

Yes. Send the ReferralCode__c field with your Outbound Messages so the campaigns' data doesn't mix.

What if the workflow rule isn't created?

Add it by hand in Salesforce Setup, under Workflow Rules. The setup guide lists the object, criteria, endpoint and fields.

Does Viral Loops write referral details back to Salesforce?

The integration brings leads, contacts and won deals from Salesforce into Viral Loops. Sending referral details back to Salesforce isn't part of the setup.
